Last Sunday I was feeling brave and decided to take Claudene to the Highland Pony Enthusiasts show at Addlington for her debut show, I hadn't even led her up to this point, she came in on Friday and we practiced leading and trotting up of a fashion! She had her mane and tail washed and didn't bat an eyelid, had a rug on to try to flatten her winter wool. All taken in her stride, she was amazing. Managed to load her in the lorry on the dark morning, she travelled well
and was very well behaved at the show and even managed to get a 2nd in the two year old class!
She walked straight back into the lorry at the show, much to my amazement. Mission accompished, Looking forward to showing her next year now.
No pics from the show I forgot the camera but photo below of Claudene and some up to date pics of the foals and ponies.

Picures below are of Drumochter at HOYS.
Have to say a big thankyou to Sue-Helen Shuttleworth for riding Drum for me, she did a fantastic job. Bit of a difference riding a hairy instead of her traditional coloureds!!
Sue backed and schooled Drum for me when he was a 5 year old, so it was like going home for Drum when he spent a few weeks at Sue's before HOYS.
Really proud of my boy getting placed 9th.
He is now back home and back out with his girls,
can't wait for next season!

North Wells Summit 1990 - 2011
It is with the greatest regret that today I had to make the tough decision to have my wonderful friend North Wells Summit put to sleep, his progressive arthritis left me with no option.
The foundation of Valerock stud, which without my magnificent boy would not be as it is today.
He has left me with a wonderful legacy, which I can see out of my window every day.
Goodbuy my special friend x

We have had a fabulous week at the Royal Highland Show. Drum won the under 14hh Highland ridden class and then to top that off he was reserve champion. It was a dream come true for me, could'nt believe that he won it!!
I have to say a big thankyou to Caroline Wilson who rode Drum for me. It was an extremely brave thing to do to ride a strange pony let alone a stallion!!
He was originally pulled in 6th and I was very happy with that in such a big class, then the judge rode him and moved him up to 1st.

Trowan Violet foaled this morning, I was fortunate enough to see the filly being born at a sensible hour, 9am in the glorious sunshine. I am over the moon at having a filly from Violet, after all of the colts she has produced. I am going to name her Violet after her mother. As this will be Violets last foal at the grand old age of 25, she can have a well deserved retirement now, bless her.
A couple of pics of Violet and Violet the 2nd.

Valerock Velvet foaled in the early hours of today. A colt by Blairgowrie of Whitefield. He is a very strong little thing, she had an easy foaling and he was up and sucking in no time. Really pleased with this little man he is gorgeous! He is very bold too walked straight up to me and had a fuss, which is not normal for Velvets foals.
Here are a couple of pics.
I have just had a lovely email from Kathryn Boorman who has Valerock Mountain Ash (Bruce). He is doing really well. It seems like yesterday when we took Bruce down south to live with Kathryn as a two year old. He is six now. Time flies. It is so nice to hear pony news from the people that buy your stock and are delighted with them. Makes it all worthwhile!
Here are some pics of Bruce courtesy of Kathryn.

Ruby has foaled in the early hours of this morning. A filly by Blairgowrie, everything was fine with them, she was up and drinking when I saw her this morning. Ruby is very foal proud and wont let me near yet.
Here are a couple of photo's.

Bryony of Combebank had her foal last night. A colt by Drumochter, everything went well, he is lovely and friendly just like all of Bryony's foals. She is much more protective over this one than her fillies.
Here are some pics of the new arrival and one of the youngsters watching the foal this morning.
